A brief overview.
What follows is a brief overview of symptoms. Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD, is a developmental impairment condition that affects children’s behaviour. The range of symptoms of an autistic individual experiences varies enormously. For example, some children may be nonverbal, while others may have what we consider to be advanced language skills. At an older age, some people with autism can hold down a job, while others may need support to cope with everyday tasks such as feeding and dressing. There are common symptoms that can alert health professionals during the assessment. These include certain aspects of behaviour, communication, and sensory or motor skill. We will explore each category individually and basic examples of the types of reactions that health professionals will look forward to help them to reach a diagnosis.
